Unofficial information. Nothing on Chugach Cache is an official regulation, permit, land-status determination, or avalanche forecast. Always verify with the official source before you hunt, fish, or travel in avalanche terrain.

Regulations and emergency orders

The regs search and map are an unofficial convenience copy of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) regulations. Regulations change, emergency orders can open or close seasons with little notice, and our copy can lag or contain errors. The official regulations, emergency orders, and permit conditions on adfg.alaska.gov control. On federal public lands, also check federal subsistence regulations. This site is not legal advice.

Draw odds, harvest stats, and deadlines

Draw odds and harvest figures come from past ADF&G reports. They describe what happened, not what will happen, and they may contain transcription errors. Hunt numbers, permit counts, and dates change every year. Application deadlines and reporting requirements are set by ADF&G and printed on your license, permit, or harvest ticket. Those control over anything on this site.

Maps and land status

Unit boundaries and land status are simplified for the screen and aren't survey-grade. Land ownership changes, and private and Native corporation lands may require permits or be closed to the public. Confirm boundaries and access with ADF&G, BLM, Alaska DNR, or the landowner.

Avalanche information

We don't make avalanche forecasts. The avalanche page shows ratings published by the Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center, the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center, and the Valdez Avalanche Center, and it may be delayed or out of date. Always read the full current forecast from the avalanche center. Backcountry travel is dangerous. Get trained, carry rescue gear, and make your own decisions.
