About Chugach Cache

Free tools for Alaskans who hunt, fish, and ski the backcountry, plus a short list of premium gear that actually ships north at a fair price.

Who runs it

Chugach Cache is run by a Palmer, Alaska hunter and backcountry skier.

It started as a fix for a local annoyance: answering a simple question like "can I take a cow in 14A?" meant digging through a 140-page PDF, then checking emergency orders, then checking a map. So we built the tools we wanted for ourselves and put them online for free.

What's here

Regs search: search the Alaska hunting and sport fishing regulation booklets by unit, species, or waterbody, with current ADF&G emergency orders flagged.
Hunting & fishing map: game management units, fishing areas, and land status in one place.
Draw odds & harvest stats: past applicants, permits, and percent drawn for Alaska drawing hunts.
Avalanche conditions: current ratings from the Hatcher Pass, Chugach, and Valdez avalanche centers, with links to their full forecasts.
Gear kits and The Cache Weekly email: premium gear picks and deals, each one checked for Alaska shipping.

How we pick gear

Premium, proven brands only. No knockoffs, no mystery clearance sites. Every deal has to ship to Alaska at a reasonable cost, and we check that on the store's own cart or shipping page before we list it. The full rules are on our affiliate disclosure page.

How the site pays for itself

The tools are free and there are no display ads. Some gear links may earn us a small commission from the retailer, at no extra cost to you. A commission never decides what we feature.
